JENNY’S DIARY OF 3 WEEKS IN GREAT BRITAIN
Thursday 15 June 2006
This is the day of our departure. At 11 o’clock we arrived in front of the War Memorial in the centre of Barcellona P.G.
The journey was very long and we arrived in Abergele at 1 o’clock in the morning. Our host-family (Jill Porter) from the very first moment that we saw her, was very kind and sociable with us. The home is very nice, with two floors. Patrizia and I sleep on the first floor in the same room. There isn’t a television but it is a very comfortable room with a very large window. The first day was very long, so when we arrived at Jill’s home we were very tired and we went to bed immediately. I have forgotten to mention that Jill has a female dog (Tilly), and she is a little stupid because she is old and she doesn’t bark unless you knock on the door, and this only is the only thing that makes her bark and she seems very angry. I think that this is to protect her mistress from thieves. Anyway goodnight and sweet dreams.

Today we visited the castle of a rich family of Rhyl, another small town near Abergele. The castle and its history was very interesting and we visited the ruins of the castle. There was also a room with strange toys and also a lot of costumes to try on. Outside the castle there was a big garden, a maze, and other interesting places to visit. It was a very enjoyable day. Today it rained but luckily we all had our umbrellas, so there weren’t any problems. In the evening we ate roast beef with broccoli, carrots and potatoes. After that we went out to Llandudno to meet our friends in front of the Asda supermarket to go bowling. We played a little and then at 10:30 we went back home with Jill, who came to pick us up.

Today is my first day of work. The day started very badly for me. After I arrived at Tesco in Abergele with Liliana, we couldn’t find my work office because my map of the place was wrong and when I asked people the right way they answered that they had never heard of this place. So Lilly and I went to Conlan to see the administrators, Livia and Jessica. and I was very uptight. Livia saw I was angry and told me to calm down because she would explain where I would be working. I found ITC, an organization that publishes on the web, giving details about shops in the city which want to sell their goods on Internet. The office is not very big with seven desks, seven computers and a big plasma television on the wall. I arrived very late at work, at 10 o’clock, and I had nothing to do until 5:30 p.m. When I arrived home I ate rice with pineapple and cherry sauce. That afternoon I cried because I was very tense and I felt homesick. Anyway I phoned my mother and she made me feel better, so that evening I went out with the others in the group to a karaoke pub in Llandudno. No one sang. Shame!!!
